Michigan Voter Registration Information
Those who wish to vote are encouraged to register as soon as possible before an election, but you can still register to vote in Michigan as late as Election Day itself. Below are the following methods, requirements, and deadlines for voter registration under Michigan law:
- 15+ Days Before Election: Voters can register online, by mail, or in person.
- Within 14 days of an election, and on Election Day: Voters may only register in person at their local clerk’s office. Proof of residency documentation is required.

Michigan Law Now Allows for Early, In-Person Voting
Under Michigan law, eligible voters now have the right to cast a ballot early and in person at an early voting site before Election Day. Michigan law requires the early voting period to take place for a minimum of nine consecutive days, ending the Sunday before the election. So, for the upcoming General Election, early, in-person voting begins on Saturday, October 26th, and ends Sunday, November 3rd.
While this nine-day period is required by Michigan law, communities may decide to provide additional days of early voting, up to 29 days total. To see if your community has additional early, in-person voting days scheduled, more information is available here.
