Reduction Was Scheduled to Begin May 1st

Earlier today, it was announced that Blue Cross and Blue Care Network are “pausing” implementation of their proposed new modifier 25 policy that would have reduced payment by 50% for E/M codes billed with modifier 25 performed on the same day as other procedures by the same provider.
The MAC Insurance Relations team has been advocating for the elimination of this policy since its announcement in the February 26 edition of The Record (original article, clarification). While the April 15th announcement was described as a pause of the policy, we will continue to advocate for Blue Cross chiropractic patients and our membership for the ultimate cancellation of this policy altogether.
