If You Are Considering Taking the Training to Become a DOT Examiner, Please Hold Off Until You Receive Further Word
Earlier this year, we informed you that Michigan chiropractors are now eligible to become certified DOT examiners. This was based upon information we received from the Michigan Secretary of State’s office, Vehicle Records Program Section, that when the state transitioned to the National Registry II program in 2025, approved medical provider chiropractors listed on the national provider registry would be allowed to perform these exams.
However, a number of Michigan chiropractors have completed this training and attempted to register for the required test, only to receive a message from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration stating that Michigan chiropractors are not eligible for certification and listing on the National Registry.
We have been trying to rectify what we believe to be a technical issue with the FMCSA and State of Michigan, but it has been slow going and we have been unable to resolve the issue thus far due to the cumbersome bureaucratic delays associated with both state and federal agencies.
