At the end of this year, the two-year MAC presidency of Dr. Lisa Olszewski will come to an end. In November, the MAC will be holding elections for the Executive Board positions of President and Vice President/Director of External Affairs.
In keeping with MAC Bylaws, in May the MAC Leadership Committee recommended potential candidates for President and Vice President / Director of External Affairs to the MAC Board of Directors (BOD). These recommended potential candidates were subsequently announced to the general membership in a MAC Matters email.
To become a potential candidate for President or Vice President, a qualified member must either be recommended by the Leadership Committee or have submitted a petition to the BOD no later than May 30, 2022. No such petitions were received by the MAC Central Office.
At the June MAC Board of Directors meeting, the Board voted to nominate these final candidates for MAC President and Vice President/Director of External Affairs:
As per MAC Bylaws, the BOD announced the final candidates to the general membership in a MAC Matters email, serving as the notice to the general membership.
Ballots will be made available to the general membership sometime in October. Balloting may be by mail, email, fax, posting to the website, or other electronic means, and shall be performed in a manner that will allow for proper credentialing and accounting of votes.
Under MAC Bylaws, the President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Organization and shall be responsible for the general and active management of the business of the Organization. The President shall see that all orders and resolutions of the MAC Board of Directors are carried into effect and shall preside over MAC Executive Committee meetings. Finally, the President shall preside over all general membership meetings.
Under MAC Bylaws, the Vice President / Director of External Affairs shall be the liaison between the Executive Committee and the Governmental Relations Committee and the Legal Affairs Committee and be directly responsible to coordinate such staff, and consultants as are required to carry out their functions.
Outgoing President Dr. Olszewski will become the MAC’s first Chairwoman of the Board. The Board of Directors will elect the final two positions on the Executive Committee – Director of Internal Affairs and Director of Financial Affairs – at their first meeting of the 2023 calendar year, after the newly elected District Representatives assume their offices. The two individuals so elected will continue to serve as Representative for their respective Districts.
The Director of Internal Affairs acts as the liaison between the Executive Committee and the Ethics, Professional Conduct and Peer Review Committee, the Insurance Relations Committee, and Education and Programs Committee. He/she is directly responsible to coordinate such staff and consultants as are required to carry out their functions.
The Director of Financial Affairs is the liaison between the Executive Committee and the Membership, Recruitment and Benefits Committee and the Audit and Budget Committee. He/she is directly responsible to coordinate all staff and consultants whose chief purpose involves the financial affairs of the Organization.
The Chairwoman of the Board presides over meetings of the Board of Directors and acts as the liaison between the Executive Committee and the Public Relations Committee. She/he is directly responsible to coordinate such staff, and consultants as are required to carry out its functions. The Chairwoman of the Board also serves as Chair of the Leadership Committee.
